Annette Bening’s return to television will happen in March.
Peacock has unveiled a March 14 premiere date and the full trailer for the seven-episode Apples Never Fall, a limited series that marks Bening’s first TV role since her Emmy-nominated turn in HBO’s 2005 telepic, Mrs. Harris.
From showrunner Melanie Marnich (The OA, The Affair) Apples Never Fall is based on the Liane Moriarty novel of the same name and revolves around Stan (Sam Neill) and Joy Delaney (Bening), who have sold their successful tennis academy and are ready to start what should be the golden years of their lives. While they look forward to spending time with their four adult children (played by Jake Lacy, Alison Brie, Conor Merrigan-Turner and Essie Randles), everything changes when a wounded young woman knocks on Joy and Stan’s door, bringing the excitement they’ve been missing.
Apples Never Fall is the latest of Moriarty’s novels to be adapted for television, joining HBO’s Big Little Lies and Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers.
David Heyman (Wonka, Barbie) exec produces the series alongside Marnich.
Below, watch the trailer for the series, which marks one of Peacock’s most anticipated shows coming in 2024.
