Apple unveiled the new Apple Vision Pro back in June 2023, and now, the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech company is finally ready to sell the new mixed reality headset that’s touted as the “ultimate entertainment experience.”
Currently, the Apple Vision Pro is available at all U.S. Apple Store retail locations and at Apple.com.
What Is the Apple Vision Pro?
The Apple Vision Pro is the tech company’s first mixed-reality headset that’s designed to bring the virtual world into the real world through digital content and spatial computing. Just slide on the headset over your head and face and begin to interact with the computer system with your eyes, hands and voice instead of a stylus or controllers.

It runs Apple visionOS, which is a new operating system that lets you interact with a suite of apps, like Safari, FaceTime, iMessages, iCloud and more, as well as experience digital content from Apple Music, Apple TV, Disney+ and others.
In fact, if you’re a Disney+ subscriber, you can experience movies in 3D and Dolby Vision — such as Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Elemental, Encanto and much more — in a new way at home.

How Much Is The Apple Vision Pro?
The Apple Vision Pro retails for $3,400 for a 256GB model. Although this is a pretty hefty price tag, this is the first generation of a new product category for Apple, so it’s very likely the price would drop with every new iteration of the wearable. And since it has “pro” in its name, Apple may release a more consumer-friendly model in the future too.
In addition, you could also upgrade the lenses, if you wear glasses. Apple has Zeiss optical inserts starting at an additional $99 for readers, or $149 for prescription lenses.
Moreover, the Apple Vision Pro could be priced upwards of $3,648, if you wear prescription eyeglasses.

Apple Vision Pro vs. Meta Quest 3
Although the Apple Vision Pro is available for purchase, the Meta Quest 3 is out at a much lower $499 starting price. The Meta Quest 3 — which is available at Amazon, Best Buy and Target — is the tech company Meta’s (formerly known as Facebook) mixed reality headset for its Metaverse platform. In fact, the Meta Quest Pro is still much cheaper than the Apple Vision Pro. Meta’s premium-level VR headset is on sale for $916, or $84 off its list price at Amazon.
The main differences between these two mixed-reality headsets are prices, platforms, content libraries and the way you interact with the operating systems. The Apple Vision Pro uses your eyes, hands and voice for interaction, while Meta Quest 3 uses two Touch Plus controllers or your hands.
The Apple Vision Pro starts at $3,499 and it’s out at all U.S. Apple Store locations and Apple.com.
